I have written before about my favorite vacation spot to visit in South Carolina. However, I am missing it this year as many of you are probably missing going other places. So I will not whine and be thankful for all the times that I have been able to visit and know more times will come. I wanted to share this little bird that I would see every time I would go. I thought he was a permanent resident until I decided to learn more about him. I found that he also visited at the same time every year…. just like me! The male painted bunting is such a lovely creature. A bird with a coat of many colors. Who knew?

Drifting through the salt marsh

bending the tall grasses

in a sea of green.

Egrets keeping a wary eye

notice my passing by.

Smelling the warm pluff mud

under the sweating sun,

under a broad blue sky

life carries on.

Special memories just chilling with a refreshing drink, watching a beautiful sunset over the harbor and salt marsh grasses as the shrimp boats finish their day.
