Sometimes all we have to do is just take that first step and get started and not keep putting off what is important. Yes, life gets in the way! However; how can we be creative or carve out the time for that one thing on our bucket list, or finishing what is considered the most important project, while still doing all that has to be done and done today? Prioritizing every day, putting the important step(s) on the calendar. As one of my favorite professors used to say, Just chunk it down, one step at a time… and yes it will happen!

Have you ever dreamed of accomplishing something that didn’t quite turn out how you wanted? Or your goal turned out to be more than you could have hoped for? The quote above while referring to “the man” of course equally applies to women as we strive to reach new heights and try new things, whether personal goals or in our work life.
Here are some helpful tips I have learned along this road as I have strived to reach both personal goals, especially as an independent inventor, or when working in teams professionally.

Define clearly what it is you (team) want to accomplish
What steps do you need to get there?
Who do you need on your team in order to reach the goal?
Clear communication with transparency
Define the timeline, budget, and time commitment needed
Be flexible, incase you left out a crucial step or team member
Build relationships while being well-rounded
Give credit where credit is due. Show gratitude.
Own the results, even if they are not the ones you wanted
