No matter where you are or what you are having to do at this difficult time, staying positive can be oh so hard when our world has been turned upside down. But you can do it. Just finding one positive or lovely thought a day can help you get through and make such a huge difference in being able to do what needs to be done. Have you ever dreamed of accomplishing something that didn’t quite turn out how you wanted? Or your goal turned out to be more than you could have hoped for? The quote above while referring to “the man” of course equally applies to women as we strive to reach new heights and try new things, whether personal goals or in our work life.

Here are some helpful tips I have learned along this road as I have strived to reach both personal goals, especially as an independent inventor, or when working in teams professionally.

  1. Define clearly what it is you (team) want to accomplish
  2. What steps do you need to get there?
  3. Who do you need on your team in order to reach the goal?
  4. Clear communication with transparency
  5. Define the timeline, budget, and time commitment needed
  6. Be flexible, incase you left out a crucial step or team member
  7. Build relationships while being well-rounded
  8. Give credit where credit is due. Show gratitude.
  9. Own the results, even if they are not the ones you wanted
