Travel – Grand Canyon

Travel Grand Canyon, North Rim Grand Canyon Arizona USA

Like most people, I have been very limited in traveling these days. However, I am looking through  photos of my past travel journeys with gratitude for all the beautiful sites that I have been privileged to enjoy. This is a view from the North rim of the Grand Canyon near Cape Royal on a trip taken in 2014.

My husband has traveled there many times and has even hiked across the entire canyon multiple times. I am a light hiker, but have done some along the Kaibab trail on the North rim, which is our favorite side. There are so many majestic views there that one trip really does not do it justice. This is truly one of the places on earth where you stand and realize how truly insignificant a person can be in the universe. It is incredible in imagining all the changes and years that it has taken to carve out such grandeur. The North rim usually closes to the public in early to mid October as they get ready for their winter season including much snowfall. The South rim is generally open year round, but you need to check the National Park website for the most current updates, especially these days. Any overnight hiking at the Grand Canyon involves applying for a permit from the park.

I always learn so much from the park rangers when we visit. The Grand Canyon is a true National Treasure.

Photography ~ Earth Day

Nature Photography, American Robin

There is nothing like the singing of the robins to herald the return of Spring. They also are just one small, but important reminder that we are all creatures of this great planet, we call earth. Whether it is through recycling, picking up litter, carrying out our own litter so not to leave a footprint when hiking, feeding the birds, or by planting a tree; there is always something we can do to protect our earth home. Hopefully, we can all do our part so that our children, grandchildren, and all future people can enjoy what we enjoy. Happy Earth Day. ~

Caterpillar with Medium heavy coat

What a beautiful warm Fall day in Indiana! No problem with social distancing on this great day to be out. Just out looking to see what I could find and capturing more images towards my goal of photographing all the covered bridges in my state. Warm days like this is a true gift as we know there won’t be  many more before old man winter is blowing his icy breath. Maybe the not too heavy of a coat on this wobbling caterpillar is a prediction that this winter will be a more mild one. Hope you liked this little sharing of Indiana. Drifting through the salt marsh

bending the tall grasses

in a sea of green.

Egrets keeping a wary eye

notice my passing by.

Smelling the warm pluff mud

under the sweating sun,

under a broad blue sky

life carries on.
